Can I be denied coverage based on pre-existing condition?

I have high blood pressure controlled with medication. I'm now eligible for insurance with my new employer who informed me that BCBS, CA, will cover treatment for my high blood pressure -- but if I have a stroke because of my high blood pressure, they would not cover hospital/doctor expenses for treatment because this is a pre-existing condition. Is this true?

No. Your employer is wrong. In California, once you are insured, you cannot be excluded from health insurance coverage based on a preexisting condition.
